Contact lenses are a viable alternative to glasses for many patients. Here at Mira Mesa Optometry, we offer a wide array of contact lens services and management to meet your particular needs. Our doctors are experienced with fitting all types of lenses that range from simple corrections to specialty customized contacts.
Along with determining your correction with a thorough eye examination, a corneal topographer is used to provide the doctors with a map of your cornea. This instrument obtains accurate corneal curvature measurements that are needed to ensure the lenses will properly fit. The topographer is also useful for screening and detecting corneal conditions or degenerations that may require special attention. Your eyes will also be assessed for any other variables that could affect your success such dryness, lid disorders or conditions, allergies and overall corneal health.
Our doctors will then discuss their findings and review the types of options that are available to you. During the fitting process, the lenses are evaluated and the prescription is checked to be sure you are obtaining maximum results. Training for new wearers is implemented and follow up visits are then provided to confirm that the lenses are performing to your satisfaction. The amount of follow ups will vary depending on the case.
